Guadalupe's Great Whites!

If a face-to-face encounter with great white sharks has been a long-time dream, there’s no better place to see them than Guadalupe, Mexico. The pristine waters around Guadalupe are crystal-clear with visibility of 60 – 100 feet, and temperatures ranging from 68° – 72° F (20° – 22° C), providing the perfect environment for my guests and a beautiful backdrop for photos and films.

This is cage diving at its most exciting using surface supplied air (hookah) instead of SCUBA tanks. Therefore, it is not necessary to be a certified scuba diver in order to participate in these trips. For those individuals who are scuba divers, the Socorro Vortex also offers diving in a submersible cage. This allows you to descend a little further into the world of the great white shark and provides a completely different perspective to the cage diving experience. One of the dive-masters escorts two divers at a time on these dives and we rotate all certified divers who wish to experience the submersible cage as many times as conditions will allow.

About the Self-Propelled Ocean Cage: Designed by Lawrence Groth for Solmar V, is a self propelled cage that can fit a pilot in the back, and a diver/camera man in the front, and has a cruising speed of 5 knots. It has been used in several TV productions for research purposes, and helping local scientists. Last year we were able to move the SPOC from a research only permit, into a commercial permit that will allow us to take our guests in a completely different great white experience. Its speed of 5 knots allows you to keep up with the pace of a great white, which would be impossible when swimming or diving. Ideal for filming smooth shots from every single angle of the shark.
