Londolozi Tree Camp

Note: King's Pool will be closed Nov 22, 2018 to Jun 16, 2019 for refurbishment.

Named for Scandinavian royalty, Kings Pool overlooks the handsome oxbow-shaped Kings Pool Lagoon in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve bordering Chobe National Park. The camp’s nine luxurious tents (including one family unit) each boast a large bedroom area and lounge leading out onto a veranda with a private plunge pool and thatched sala from which to soak up the gorgeous views and possibly even spot elephant crossing the channel. The spacious en-suite bathrooms have double showers and hand-basins, as well as an outdoor shower for those who wish to shower ‘in’ nature!

The spacious main area comprises a lounge, dining room and a convivial bar beautifully set on expansive raised decks. There is also a pool and an open-air 'kgotla' for evening dining under the stars.

Thanks to a range of habitats, Kings Pool offers spectacular wildlife viewing, whether on land or water, while the luxuries of the camp itself round off the safari experience

HABITAT AND WILDLIFE
Linyanti Concession
The 125 000-hectare (308 000-acre) Linyanti Concession bordering Chobe National Park’s western boundary is an enormous wildlife-rich area with an unrivalled atmosphere of remoteness and space. The bulk of the concession is comprised of different mopane woodland associations, but along the Linyanti River exists a strip of riparian forest and floodplain. The concession is bisected by an ancient watercourse – the Savuti Channel – famous as a sporadic and unusual watercourse, possibly as a result of tectonic activity in the area. Dry for many years, it started flowing again in 2008 which led to an influx of waterbirds and adaptation from the resident animals. In keeping with its erratic nature, the Channel is dry once more, exposing open grasslands and creating a new dynamic in wildlife activity. The area is famed for its herds of elephant that reach the world’s highest densities in the dry winter months. Other species are also abundant – zebra, wildebeest, impala, giraffe, lechwe, reedbuck, kudu – and in addition to species like lion, spotted hyaena and leopard, the area also plays host to populations of cheetah and wild dog. Rarer species such as sable and roan emerge from the woodlands during the dry season.

GAME VIEWING
Elephant can be seen all year round but peak roughly from May till late October Lion are seen regularly and it is a good area for leopard and wild dogs. Plains game is good year-round but peaks in the dry months. Excellent birding especially Carmine Bee-eaters in summer and great raptors year-round. Great hippo and general game viewing on the lagoon in front of camp.
