Grand Sea Explorer

The name Qorokwe means “the place where the buffalo broke through the bush into the water" and is evocative of the high-density game area in which it is situated. Qorokwe in the south-eastern Okavango reveals diverse habitats supporting a wealth of wildlife, earning the area’s well-deserved reputation as a top Botswana safari destination.

Qorokwe Camp has eight tented suites as well as one very spacious family tented suite with its own splash pool. En-suite facilities feature a convertible indoor/outdoor shower. The magnificent main area overlooks a lagoon and its infinity pool is a focal point for the expansive views. The dining area, lounge, library and bar are built on raised wooden platforms, all connected by walkways. Highlights of Qorokwe’s dining experiences include festive boma evenings and scrumptious pizzas from the camp’s bespoke oven.

Guests can explore the exclusive traversing area of the concession on day and night game drives and nature walks led by highly-skilled guides, as well as enjoy mokoro activities depending on the water levels.

Highlights

  • Permanent water, seasonal islands, tranquil waterways and dry woodland ensure a year-round variety of game and birds
  • Concentrations of all the larger predators are seen in the area
  • Qorokwe Camp is 100% solar powered, keeping a light eco-footprint

Qorokwe Camp combines a contemporary style with a classic bush feel. Its nine tented suites (including one very spacious family unit with its private plunge pool) are well shaded and catch the prevailing breeze. The whole camp, including the magnificent main area, overlooks a lagoon and its infinity pool is a focal point for the expansive views.

Game Drives
Game drives reveal the rich wildlife of the area from predators to prey. Open 4x4 vehicles accommodate a maximum of seven guests allowing each a ‘window’ seat.

Mokoro Excursion
There is no better way of viewing the Delta and its wildlife than by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe).

Night Drives
Night drives with spotlights allow you to find those nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see during the day.

Birding
The birdlife is excellent and varies throughout the year, depending on water levels and season. They include African hawk-eagle, ground hornbill, scarlet-chested sunbird, red-billed hornbill, gabar goshawk and red-billed francolin.

Guided Nature Walks
Walking safaris with skilled guides offers you the exciting opportunity of coming across big game on foot as well as observing the smaller things you miss when traveling by vehicle. (on request and seasonal - during the transition of March to June, flora in the area flourishes, giving predators ample coverage and making walking conditions unfavorable).

Boating
Seasonal boating excursions allow you to explore the more distant waterways, and the deep clear channels.
