Thorntree River Lodge
The beautifully designed Thorntree River Lodge graces the banks of Zambia’s glorious Zambezi River in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. Seamlessly blending into the tranquil river-side setting, this eco-conscious haven draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of local African culture but with contemporary influences throughout. Just 20 min upstream from Victoria Falls, the lodge is perfectly positioned to enjoy the cascading spectacle nearby with a range of water-based activities.
The lodge boasts 12 twin rooms with 2 sets of interleading units. Each unit has its own indoor and outdoor bathrooms, as well as a luxurious private plunge pool. The main lodge consists of a lounge with an open dining area, where the fine dining experience of African cuisine will come to life. A gym and spa overlook the mighty Zambezi River, and there is a small library with WIFI for our guests’ convenience. The communal deck is set on the edge of the stunning riverside, and is home to a sunken boma area and an infinity pool. Wooden decking floats on the edge of the river, and moves with the water level to create the illusion of sailing a boat, and help to achieve a seamless feel between river and land.
Lying in such close proximity of Victoria Falls, the camp offers daily excursions to the Zambian side of The Falls where activities include bungee jumping, white water rafting, tiger fishing expeditions, private river cruises, helicopter rides and picnics on Livingstone Island. The perfect respite after a day of activities on the river, your stay at Thorntree River Lodge will be a holistic experience, ideal for quiet contemplation in a remarkably peaceful setting. (ABC)
Perching on the river edge are the twelve luxurious suites, four of which can be used as family suites with interleading walkways. Each suite boasts gorgeous indoor bathrooms including an additional outdoor shower, an intimate lounge area that sprawls out onto a private decking and a plunge pool. Designed to showcase the incredible river panoramas, the suites’ sliding glass panel walls and high-pitched canvas roofs exude a delightful sense of space.
