Kenya's Highlights

DAY 1    Arrive Nairobi

You will be met off your flight at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred to your hotel for your overnight stay prior to launching your safari. Take this opportunity to relax and recover from your flight. Overnight Giraffe Manor.

DAYS 2-4    Samburu National Park

Leave Nairobi on a light aircraft flight to the Samburu National Park and be transferred on arrival at the airstrip to your chosen camp. At both you will be given the opportunity to settle in and soak in the incredible surroundings. Samburu National Park will enthrall you with magnificent wildlife sightings. The Ewaso Ngiro River attracts a variety of animals that can be seen congregating at this lifeline to the reserve. Spot the Samburu Big 5 of the beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk antelope, and Somali ostrich, along with more than 400 types of birds.

While at Elephant Bedroom Camp, not only will you witness the abundant wildlife on daily game drives, but also from your private deck as they often wander right through the camp. Take the opportunity to visit local villages to learn more about the Samburu traditions or opt to track elephants on a walking safari.

On the Classic itinerary you will be able to get within feet of the wildlife in Saruni Samburu’s photographic hide after tracking them on game drives or guided bush walks. Hiking the sacred mountain of Mount Ololokwe is a great way to understand the Samburu culture while also feasting your eyes on incredible 360°-views of the Kalama Community Conservancy. Overnight Elephant Bedroom Camp or Saruni Samburu

DAYS 5-7    Masai Mara
Bid farewell to Samburu as you depart for the next exciting stop on your Kenyan safari journey: the Greater Masai Mara Reserve. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your camp to settle in before your first game drive in this iconic wildlife area.

On the Simple itinerary, you will be based in the Masai Mara National Reserve where you may have the opportunity to witness the powerful sight of The Great Migration between July and October. But whether you are in the reserve at that time, or outside of the migration period, or located in the Mara Naboisho conservancy on the Classic version of the itinerary, you can expect abundant wildlife sightings. You are in big cat territory with the highest density of lion in Kenya along with healthy populations of leopard and cheetah. Game viewing is excellent with the Big 5 and nearly 500 recorded bird species present.

Your time in the Masai Mara will be peppered with game drives exploring the vast grasslands, perhaps a bush breakfast or a glorious sundowner in the African bush, and many incredible wildlife experiences. Visit a Maasai village on one of your days here and learn about the culture of the local community. At Entim Mara you’ll be overlooking the Mara River and able to watch animals from your private veranda. Overnight Naboisho Camp

DAY 8        Nairobi

After breakfast it’s time to pack your bags for your flight back to Nairobi. You will be met by your Asilia driver when you land at Wilson Airport and then transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. This takes approximately an hour, depending on traffic. It’s the end of your safari and time to check in for your flight home with many wonderful memories of Kenya.

Extend your stay at the Kenya Coast.

DAYS 8-10    Kenya Coast

There’s time for one last game drive this morning before departing after lunch. The safari portion of your journey comes to an end and it’s time to swop the bush for the beach. The camp will transfer you to the airstrip in readiness for your flight to the Kenyan coast. By early evening you will be checking into your hotel before enjoying dinner with an ocean view.

The next three days give you an opportunity to unwind away from game drive vehicles as you sink your feet into the soft white sands of Kenya’s South Coast.

You can choose to relax by lying on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, dipping into the turquoise waters of the warm Indian ocean, watching the ancient dhows sailing past, and being pampered with spa treatments, or opt for a more active safari conclusion. A variety of watersports are on offer, an 18-hole golf course is only a few minutes away, and Mombasa old town is worth a visit for a walk through the streets and markets where you might find something special to take home as a beautiful reminder of Kenya.
