Saigon to Angkor Wat Adventure

From Vietnam’s largest metropolis, journey through the Mekong Delta to eventually arrive in Cambodia’s ancient capital. Cruise though the endless waterways of the Mighty Mekong and make stops en route to shop at floating markets and meet the village locals. Arrive at great speed into Cambodia’s busy capital, Phnom Penh, which has a variety of cultural and historical attractions to satisfy any traveller. Travel overland to Siem Reap to discover the magic of Angkor Wat and learn about the influence of the Khmer Empire centuries ago.

Day 1  Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho
Transfer from Ho Chi Minh City through the Mekong Delta to Cai Be Floating Markets; board a river boat to cruise along the endless waterways of the Mighty Mekong. Stop en route at the small riverside restaurant to indulge in local delicacies for lunch. Bid farewell to the friendly hosts and cruise to Ong Giao Garden followed by a handicraft village to see how bricks and pottery items are made. Finish the boat ride at Vinh Long Town then drive to the city at the heart of Mekong Delta – Can Tho.

Day 2  Can Tho - Chau Doc
Today starts with an early morning visit to Cai Rang Floating Market, the largest floating market in the Mekong River Delta. Float through bustling trade scenes with vendors selling staple commodities, cheap local products, steaming noodle soups and the freshest of fruits. As the morning bustle begins to slow, return to the shore for a transfer to the border town Chau Doc for an overnight stay.

Day 3   Chau Doc - Phnom Penh
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then transfer to the port to board the Hang Chau express boat headed for Phnom Penh. Travel upstream for 3 - 4 hours to reach Cambodia’s busy capital; transfer to the hotel for check in then spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 4  Phnom Penh
Explore Phnom Penh – Cambodia’s cultural, commercial and political hub – independently or arrange an optional tour with your guide. This city has a variety of cool local hangouts to relax in as well as temples, museums, and the Royal Palace if craving cultural sightseeing.

Day 5  Phnom Penh - Siem Reap
Leave the exotic capital behind and take a public bus to Siem Reap, the gateway to the ruins of Angkor. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 6  Angkor’s Temples
Cambodia’s Temples of Angkor complex is a major highlight of any Asian trip; today is the day to explore it! Meet a Buffalo Tours guide at the hotel then head off to spend the whole day visiting the largest religious monument in the world. Once the capital of the Khmer Empire, which at times ruled most of Southeast Asia, this site is scattered with Hindu and Buddhist temples dating back as far as the 12th Century.

Day 7  Angkor Wat
Choose to spend another day exploring the vast temple complex either independently or with the guide. 

Day 8  Siem Reap - home
Spend the day at leisure until transferring to the airport for a departing flight.
