Casa Mia

Casa Mia is an intimate resort and dive center located on Mathiveri Island in the northern Ari atoll. The 24 modern, stylish and affordable rooms are spacious with the option of either a beach room on the ground floor, sea view or garden view room spread across 2 wings. Each room has air conditioning and can be arranged with either double or twin beds. None of the rooms have a TV. The standard rooms are in the new resort wing, while the deluxe rooms are in the original wing. Surrounded by lush gardens and right on the beach front, Casa Mia is ideal for travelers looking for the big fish action that makes the Maldives so famous. You may enjoy your meals or a glass of refreshing fresh juice served in the restaurant right next to the azure blue waters of the outdoor pool. There’s plenty of space to relax on the sunbeds and chill out in the warm Maldivian sunshine. The private white sand beach is a slice of heaven.

Things to do: The Maldives is beloved by divers for the pelagics that roam the warm waters of the north Ari atoll. Building on their experience running liveaboards, the team at Casa Mia understands what divers visiting the Maldives expect. Jump on board the custom built dive dhoni and dive some of the best dive sites such as Maaya thila, Fish head, Hafsa thila and Rasdhoo. Here, reef sharks circle while rays hunt and enormous mantas dance above your head.

Non-divers will love the snorkeling excursions and variety of watersports including kayaking and paddle boarding. Uniquely situated, Casa Mia is on a local island so you may not only have the experience of a beautiful Maldivian isle but also the opportunity to see firsthand how Maldivians live. The simplicity and quiet island living is at its best with local houses, a small school, a few shops and a traditional coral stone mosque, all laid out on simple track roads. The island is non-commercial so you can enjoy your holiday without the clamor of street vendors that can be experienced elsewhere. Because the resort is on a local island, alcohol is not allowed at the resort. But have no fear, there is a floating bar!

Casa Mia is small and welcoming. With just 24 modern and spacious rooms, you have a choice of ground floor or first floor, standard and deluxe with seating areas and some with sea views. Each has air con and either double or twin beds. Situated right on the beach front and surrounded by verdant gardens, Casa Mia is the perfect choice for simply escaping the humdrum of life.

Diving the Ari Atoll
The resort’s team is highly experienced, multi-lingual and has many years diving experience in Ari Atoll. The normal daily routine is two morning dives by local dhoni. Afternoon and night dives are available upon request, subject to minimum numbers at an additional charge. Speedboat or full day trips to outlying dive sites are also sometimes offered including Rasdhoo Madivaru and Fish Head.

The iconic Maldives is renowned for the pelagics that live and play in these clear warm waters. The north Ari Atoll is one of the main areas where you have the best chance of seeing those big fish; whale sharks, manta rays and sharks.

Kayaks
Sea kayaking needs very little training or experience so is easy to pick up with just a few simple instructions. Ideal for a slow family paddle out to the reef, or if you like a little more competition, it’s great for fun, friendly races.

Stand Up Paddleboards
SUPs, as they are also commonly known, have become incredibly popular in recent years. Try for yourself; get on the board and with a few easy instructions you can be enjoying a leisurely paddle off in the lagoon or creating an intense core workout by pushing yourself on the board. Best of both worlds!
