Borneo Big 5 (6 days / 5 nights) - Suggested Itinerary
Enjoy the best-selling wildlife tour package, combining Sukau Rainforest Lodge with the exquisite Borneo Rainforest Lodge in Danum Valley. You'll maximize your chances of seeing wildlife on this tour especially Borneo's Big 5, the Pygmy Elephant, Orang Utan, Proboscis Monkey, Crocodiles and the stunning Rhinoceros Hornbill.
Day 1 : Sandakan - Sepilok - Sukau Rainforest Lodge (By Boat)
Upon arrival at Sandakan Airport, head to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. There, you'll be treated to an enlightening video show about the conservation efforts done at the centre. Enjoy a ten minute walk in the midst of the rainforest and witness the feeding of orangutans at the feeding platform and observe them at the outdoor nursery. After, head to the Sun Bear Conservation Centre next door after to learn more about the smallest bears in the world.
After lunch, embark on a 2 and a half hour journey by speedboat up the Kinabatangan River to Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Enjoy a river cruise in search of Borneo's wildlife and birds. Return to lodge to savour a candle light dinner on the pier, followed by slide presentation and interpretation by a naturalist guide. Overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge. (LD)
Day 2 : Sukau Rainforest Lodge
Rise and shine for the morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, join in the nature walk along the lodge's Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. After lunch, it will be free at leisure. In the afternoon, proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife. Overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Day 3 : Gomantong Cave
We take an early morning river cruise along the Menanggol River by silent electric motor in search of wildlife, waking to the cacophony of the rainforest before returning for a full breakfast. We have time to relax or enjoy one of our optional activities. After lunch, we make a 27 km overland journey to the Gomantong Cave. The cave is surrounded by primary rainforest, rich in fruiting wild figs which makes it an ideal place to spot orang utans in the wild. We'll spend our time exploring the cave and its surroundings until sunset, when you'll be overwhelmed by the exodus of over two million bats heading out for the night, swiftlets coming in to nest as well as raptors (eagles) swooping in and preying on the bats. Return to Sukau Rainforest Lodge Superior room for overnight stay. BLD
Day 4 : Sukau Rainforest Lodge - Borneo Rainforest Lodge
Rise early and prepare for your trip to Danum Valley. After breakfast, we journey 2 hours overland to Lahad Datu before our onward journey to the award winning nature lodge, Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Enjoy lunch upon arrival and check-in. In the afternoon, explore the beautiful nature trails and nearby river. Come evening, watch an educational slide show by your guide and if weather permits, go spotlighting for nocturnal animals in the night. Stay overnight at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge (Standard Room). Day 5 : Borneo Rainforest Lodge
Revel in a refreshing morning bird walk before breakfast. Spend the day exploring the forest for birds and mammals, leading up to an escarpment with ancient burial coffins. Trek to a waterfall for refreshing dip in rock pools. Lunch at the lodge. Thereafter, explore more trails leading to an amazing canopy walkway. Stay overnight at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge. BLD
Day 6 : Borneo Rainforest Lodge - Transfer out
Morning trek in search of mammals and birds. Return to the lodge before departing for Lahad Datu. Take the afternoon flight back to Kota Kinabalu. BL
