Located just outside Ubud in Nyuhkuning Village, Alam Shanti is a peaceful intimate Balinese resort immersed in nature. Each of the 8 garden rooms are truly unique and feature the owner, Pat Ketut’s, beautiful carvings and vision to create a traditional Balinese villa family experience.
Alam Shanti is a 10-minute walk to the Monkey Forest and Laka Leke Restaurant where you can enjoy an evening dance performance. There’s a complimentary shuttle car to and from the center of Ubud available on request. Lunch and Dinner may also be ordered in-house from Cafe Wayan or Laka Leke menus offering the option to simply eat-in and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
Alam Wangi Spa is located here where you can enjoy traditional massage or aromatherapy treatments. The Alam Wangi Cafe serves fresh healthy juices and light meals poolside. Above the spa is Ketut’s Krinting's Studio exhibiting traditional Balinese paintings by Pak Ketut himself and other local artists. Alam Shanti is a wonderful base to explore this region of Bali with hiking and biking trips past emerald rice terraces and cultural visits to temples, artisan workshops and more.
Accommodations blend in open-air Bali living with modern amenities in traditional architecture. Bapak Ketut, self-evolved from traditional artist to architect, has transformed spaces with local craftsmen and artisans. Most of our rooms have air-conditioning but you may also enjoy rooms only with ceiling fans embracing breezes and the scent of frangipani while listening to the sounds of nature. Living in “beautiful nature” means we also wish to live in harmony with other creatures of nature –such as geckos, frogs and sometimes even insects- after all, we are in the tropics! Rooms have mosquito nets and mosquito coils are lit in the evening.

One Bedroom Suites
Two separate luxurious suites in one house and compound called Gangga and Yamuna share a beautiful pool. Spacious verandas offer views to the gardens and rice fields. These rooms were beautifully created with love, graced with stone and wood carvings crafted by Bapak Mangku and his artisan friends. Bedrooms have both air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Garden bathrooms feature a bathtub and a separate shower. Meals may be taken in the privacy of your veranda enjoying the natural breezes at your own luxury nest with the staff standing by to make your stay comfortable and memorable.
A full kitchen and family room is also available on a lower level for private or shared use. Ideal for families or friends sharing the entire house. There is also a private bathroom and shower off the kitchen and family room. The Alam Wangi Spa invites you to indulge in a range of traditional spa treatments.
Grand Deluxe Garden Rooms
Two Grand Deluxe Garden Rooms are situated in one house within a peaceful compound at Alam Shanti. Each room has a private entrance but the compound can also be a lovely space to share with families or friends. A gazebo with kitchen and dining space is available for private or shared use. Meals may also be taken in the privacy of your room. Each room is beautifully appointed in its own style embracing traditional Balinese architecture graced with stone and wood carvings by Bapak and local artisan friends. Bedrooms have both air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Bathrooms feature a bathtub and a separate shower. A short walk brings you to the common pool and Alam Wangi Spa. Indus is on the upper level and Narmada is on the lower level. 
Deluxe Garden Rooms
Two Deluxe Garden Rooms are situated in one house with separate entrances at Alam Shanti. Each room is beautifully appointed in its own style embracing traditional Balinese architecture graced with stone and wood carvings by Bapak and local artisan friends. Bedrooms have both air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Bathrooms feature a bathtub and a separate shower. Meals may be taken in the privacy of your room or in the common lounge space. A short walk brings you to the main pool and Alam Wangi Spa. Amidst lush gardens, you can feel serene and at home. Our staff are always available to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Dewi is on the upper level enjoying a lovely garden view. Shindu on the lower level also has a large garden bathroom.
Superior Garden Rooms
Two Superior Garden Rooms within in one house are called Saraswati and Laksmi. These rooms may be enjoyed as private units or shared with a common kitchen and dining space. Meals may also be taken in the privacy of your room. Each room is appointed in its own homey style. Bedrooms have both air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Bathrooms feature a bathtub with shower. Saraswati is on the upper level with a large open-air living and work space featuring a dining table and two day beds. Ideal for friends and families sharing this space.
Laksmi is on the lower level with veranda that connects to the kitchen and dining area. Ideal to be shared with families or friends. Amid lush gardens, feel serene and at home. A short walk brings you to the common pool and Alam Wangi Spa where you can endulge in a range of traditional massage and aromatherapy treatments.
Ubud as a home-base offers many activities including just relaxing and watching the rice grow. And thanks to the Monkeys around us, Nyuhkuning Village is protected from thru car-traffic! There are many options for activities within comfortable walking distance right in Nyuhkuning- to join a Cooking Class or Cultural workshop, see Dance and Music performances, indulge in spa treatments, ayurveda or yoga. And a walk or drive just off the main roads surrounding Ubud brings you to villages where the heart of Balinese culture is still very much alive. This is also an ideal base for active pursuits such as rafting, ATV tours, biking, nature walks and volcano climbs.
