AlamBatu

alamBatu is a beautiful and comfortable dive and adventure resort in North East Bali. The resort fits perfectly into the landscape, some of the bungalows are near the seashore and others are located in a higher area. The garden invites you to enjoy nature, read a book or be swept away in one of the numerous ”bale” (small pavilions with comfortable reclining areas). You can also enjoy a swim in the overflow pool with a beautiful view of the sea.

The resort consists of 11 generous bungalows, 1 single bungalow, three villas, a restaurant, a spa and a great dive base with extra camera room. The restaurant is gathering spot all day to swap stories, play games, sip coffee or just relax and read books. The kitchen is open continuously from 8 am until 11 pm. – so when you're hungry from your afternoon dive, you can come back and order a tasty bowl of soup or another dish from our varied menu. The cuisine includes traditional Indonesian and Thai dishes as well as western fare. BBQs (meat or fish) and Indonesian buffets are also regular events. And of course, the menu caters to vegetarian and vegan preferences. Weather permitting, dinner is served on the terrace. Fresh sea air and cool breezes waft away the heat of the day – and your dinner or a cool beer will taste twice as good under a canopy of stars. Before dinner, those who wish gather in the cozy lounge corner to enjoy cocktails and chat, as night slowly descends on alamBatu.

The alamBatu spa is on a slight elevation just below the house temple. The spa offers massages, baths, facial treatments, body peeling and body wraps with natural raw materials such as papaya, sea salt, coconut, coffee and various nuts. Open at the sides, the massage huts are located around a pool – so the gentle splashing of the water adds to the ambience of beauty and regeneration.

The bungalows are spacious (40 m2) and designed in typical Balinese style. They are built from local wood and bamboo, the roof is covered by alang-alang. They fit perfectly into the landscape and are arranged to ensure, that you have a lot of privacy in your bungalow. The four bungalows in the lower area (near to the sea) have air-conditioning, the others are located at a higher elevation and are well ventilated and equipped with ceiling fans. The bungalows have a generous terrace with a view of the sea. There is a comfortable outdoor bed on the terrace, where you can also sleep at night (a mosquito net can be installed by the staff if desired).

The bathrooms are located at the back of the bungalows, partly covered (toilet and sink) and partly outdoor (shower). It’s a great feeling having a shower under the open sky. The furnishings combine modern style and Balinese tradition and are comfortable and cozy.

The underwater world in Bali offers a great variety of species. Located in the southwestern part of the coral triangle, the richness of the coral reefs is unique. More than 3,500 species have been discovered here. The Indonesian current is in charge of transporting plankton to the reefs around Bali. This very important current transports the water from the Pacific Ocean, via Java and Banda Sea, to the Indian Ocean. This optimal geographic situation guarantees the great diversity of fish, coral, and critters; including nudibranchs, rhinopias, ghost pipefish, cowries, boxer crabs, mimic octopus, wonderpus and many more.

House Reef

The alamBatu house reef, situated directly off the resort, is a wonderful and mostly untouched reef of over 800 meters. The coral diversity varies from soft corals, black corals, table corals and gorgonians up to 2 meters in diameter. The corals shelter a fantastic underwater world with many schools of fish (including juvenile barracudas, snappers), reef sharks, seahorses, harlequin shrimps and other critters.

With a bit of luck , you can also see dolphins, pilot whales and ocean sunfish passing by.

Aside from the beautiful house reef, there are numerous nearby dive sites that offer a variety of diving options including coral diving, muck diving and wreck diving. By boat, it only takes 15 minutes to get to the "Liberty" wreck or to the famous dive spots "Drop off", "Ulami" and "Coral Garden" in Tulamben.

alamBatu is also an outstanding place for macro photographers. Our dive guides are great at spotting micro critters such as pygmy sea horses and other small species.

Black Water Diving

See the creatures that come out at night! These special night dives are conducted up to 1000 meters offshore in deep water environment, far away from any reefs. The 2 – 4 divers joined by at least 1 dive guide are drifting along an illuminated, weighted line in a depth up to maximum 15 meters, while the crew is observing the group from the boat at all time to make sure all safety standards are met.
