Thrill Seeking!
It would be easy to go from one thrill to the next for a week in Queenstown, known as the adventure capital of the world. Here are a few of the options.

Queenstown is the home of the original AJ Hackett Bungy Jump. Choose to visit their original site at Karawau River to jump 43m from the historical Karawau Bridge or if you are feeling brave head to The Nevis Valley and jump from the suspended platform 134m above the canyon – New Zealand highest bungy.

Imagine the scenery of Queenstown or Glenorchy as your parachute opens and you are gliding towards ground. If you are a first time jumper what better place in the world to try.

Embrace the surroundings of a natural high walled canyon whilst descending down through the narrow walls, plunging into pools, swimming through narrow passages. An ultimate water adventure.

From gentle family friendly trips to grade 5 rapids everyone is able to enjoy a day out on the river. There are several spectacular locations suitable for rafting including the Shotover River and Kawarau River. If you want a more peaceful trip, head to Glenorchy and take a ride in a fun yak.

Not quite up to jumping from a plane? A tandem paragliding experience will give you the feeling of freedom while soaring above and taking in the incredible views of Queenstown.

Whether you prefer the thrill of speeding through mere centimetres of water through the Shotover Canyon or a more scenic ride down the Dart River, a jet boat experience will be memorable.

Want to feel like you are flying through the forest? This is the perfect Queenstown adventure for everyone to enjoy.

Keep up your exercise with the many fun ways to keep active while on holiday.

One of the most pleasant ways to get to know an area is to walk. New Zealander’s love to hike and Queenstown has many options, from pleasant strolls to guided day long hikes in the mountains.

Framed against stunning scenic backdrops Queenstown is home to two of the most popular ski fields in the South Island, Coronet Peak and The Remarkables. Crisp, fresh air, great runs, and a friendly environment makes a perfect ambience for a day on the mountains.

Looking for crystal clear mountain rivers and streams in remote areas to try your luck? Local guides will show you where to find the fish amongst our magnificent mountains and beech tree forests.

Golfing enthusiasts have a lot of choice in Queenstown. Some of the most scenic courses in the world are found in our hometown, including Millbrook Resort one of New Zealand’s finest resort courses, Queenstown Golf Club, set upon the shores of Lake Wakatipu, Arrowtown Golf Course, alive with local history and character, The Hills, home to the NZ Open and arguably the finest course in New Zealand and Jacks Point Golf course, designed to work with nature encountering wetlands, steep bluffs, indigenous vegetation and wildlife.

Enjoy the harmony and tranquility of New Zealand on horseback. Reliable, friendly horses and their guides will take you trekking through amazing scenery, cross clear fresh rivers and if you are a movie fan, you will enjoy riding through filming locations from The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit.

Although we do not have a gym on-site all guests receive complimentary access to our local Queenstown Gym. Please let our team know and we will provide return transport for you.

Undoubtedly New Zealand has a spectacular and diverse landscape. We hope you will have time to appreciate it and get out and about exploring.

As we are located in an area where the scenery is most extraordinary, we do recommend a scenic flight for guests to really appreciate the incredible beauty. Many different trips are available, however the most popular trip is to Milford Sound, including a glacier landing. Trips can be taken by either helicopter or small aeroplane.

Aboard the iconic vintage steamship the TSS Earnslaw you will experience more than a cruise on the lake, it is a trip back in time. From the vantage point of the lake you will take in the breathtaking views. You can also choose to visit Walter Peak Country Farm, at the end of the lake and have a guided tour, horse trek, BBQ lunch or dinner.

If you would like to get off the beaten path, you may need a 4WD and a driver. There are many options to explore one being Skipper’s Canyon Road, which was carved by hand by miners over 140 years ago and now forms a very narrow cut in the middle of a sheer cliff face. The canyon was formed by glaciers approximately 25,000 years ago and at one time was the richest gold bearing river in the world However, we do suggest exploring with a private guide or as part of an organised tour.

Queenstown is not only for the adrenaline seekers, it is also a place of tranquility and calmness. At Azur we respect your privacy and provide a place for you to relax and enjoy a rest.

Feel like pampering yourself? At Azur we can offer in-villa massage and mini spa treatments upon request. However, if you would like a full spa experience we have recommendations of local day spas.
