Bonaire, with its fringing reef in close proximity to the shore, and Klein Bonaire offer about 80 official dive sites. The dives are in calm waters with good visibility making this the perfect destinations for divers of all skill levels, especially new divers. At Buddy Dive, the custom dive boats invite you to explore the beautiful marine life during a guided dive or enjoy the convenience of the unique ‘Drive Thru’ delivering air and Nitrox so you may discover the island’s underwater world at your own pace.

Bonaire may be known as a “divers” paradise, but snorkelers will be happy to know they could spot over 75 different species of fish along the shallow reef terrace alone! Snorkeling is a perfect Bonaire activity for the whole family. But if you haven’t tried it yet, no problem, you can start now! A dedicated boat to Klein Bonaire is the best way to discover the shallow reefs around this beautiful Island.

Mangrove Snorkel Trip

In addition to a weekly boat snorkel trip, Buddy Dive also offers several guided snorkeling tours. One is along the edge of the mangrove forest, which serves as the “nursery” of the ocean. Among the highlights are the three inch long Barracuda and the bottom dwelling upside down jellyfish. Other tours combine snorkeling with activities such as kayaking or cave exploration.

This is one of the most popular Bonaire activities, and there are all sorts of ways to experience it. Take a guided kayak tour through the mangroves or to nearby Klein Bonaire. Combine the Klein trip with a guided walk and exploration of the island, or a snorkel along the island shallow terraces – a perfect place to spot turtles at rest! Or go for a leisurely paddle and explore on your own as you tour the coast in front of the resort.

Mountain Biking

Miles and miles of trails have been laid on Bonaire specifically for this sport. Literally around every hilltop there are different vistas to enjoy. With such a wide variety of routes to choose from, we’re sure to be able to put together a tour that best suits your interest and fitness level.

Kite Surfing & Wind Surfing

The trade winds on Bonaire are legendary, providing for the most stable winds in the world and making the nearby area of Lac Bay famous as a top-notch kite surf & wind surf destination. We schedule weekly introductory classes with one of the local outfitters at Lac for those with limited or no experience in the sport. The IKO-certified instructors of the kiteschool, create a fun and safe learning environment, with a lot of individual attention. Atlantis Beach is the ideal spot for kitesurfing on this island. Both experienced kitesurfers and beginners will feel greatly at home here.

Sport Fishing

Slowly but surely Bonaire is starting to become known as a sport-fishing destination. There are several good outfits that can take care of the most spoiled fisherman. Do not expect the seven story high flying bridge boats, rather somewhat smaller boats, with crew that are even more eager to catch fish than the paying customer is. Try it and you’ll find out Bonaire has it all: Marlin, Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, and even great bone fishing!

Bonaire is located about 50 miles off the coast of Venezuela, near Aruba and Curacao. The island is part of the Dutch Caribbean. Bonaire is accessible via a number of international and local carriers, from Europe, Latin America and North America. This makes it relatively easy to go to Bonaire for your next dive trip with us! Traveling to Bonaire is possible through flying to Bonaire’s International Airport (BON): Flamingo International Airport.

Buddy Dive Resort Bonaire is increasingly focusing on a level of social and environmental sustainability. Even though Bonaire is a small island, we thrive to create a better world together. Therefor a higher efficiency is sought after in all our business decisions. Bonaire’s nature is stunning, both underwater as topside. We would like to keep it that way, that’s why we focus on corporate social responsibility, sustainability and the attractiveness of the island. For ourselves, but also for the generations to come.

Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF)

Since 2012, Buddy Dive supports the CRF in order to maintain healthy corals. Coral Restoration Foundation Bonaire is dedicated to restoring the shallow water populations of staghorn and elkhorn corals along the coast of Bonaire. Instead of a decrease in corals Bonaire sees an increase of healthy corals. 30 nursery trees from CRF are located at our house reef, Buddy’s Reef.

Kids Council

Buddy Dive joined the first initiative of the Kids Council on Bonaire in 2017 and will continue to do so in the upcoming years. Local children from Kolegio Rayo di Solo are linked to our resort as a Kids Council. Thanks to the Kids Council children structurally help institutions and organizations think about strategic and social issues. In this project, together we thrive to come up with possible solutions and new perspectives to make the diving experience more attractive to children and young adults. The kids shared some great ideas for us to work with and we gave them the opportunity to get acquainted with the diving industry in their home country.

Water purification system

During your stay at Buddy Dive Resort you can drink water from the tap. Buddy Dive uses a water purification system for desalination, one of the few rainfall-independent water sources for human use. Desalination is a process that extracts salt and minerals from ocean water using reverse osmosis.

The invasive Lionfish are harming native coral reef systems in the Caribbean waters. Many reef fish are threatened in their natural environment. In order to keep the fish population balanced, we hunt the Lionfish during dive trips and offer a Lionfish hunter specialty course. Next to that our Ingridients Restaurant serves a 3-course Lionfish special every Monday. Or bring in your own caught Lionfish between 3pm to 5 pm at Blennies Restaurant and we will clean and cook it to perfection to enjoy it for dinner the same day!
