Chisa Busanga Camp
Green Safaris' newest intimate bush camp, opening soon, in the heart of the magical Busanga Flood Plains in the North of the Kafue National Park (Zambia). Stay in one of four truly amazing Birds-Nests which completely blend in with nature. The main area overlooks the plains and has a plunge pool to cool down and relax, during the hottest months.
Chisa Busanga Bush Camp lies on a beautiful island in the heart of the Busanga Plains, overlooking the massive floodplains and dambos that teem with wildlife and birds. As the floodplains are mostly inaccessible during the summer, when the rains turn the plains into a massive lake, Busanga is a seasonal destination, open from June-November. Its remoteness and the most remarkable sunrises when the mist rises of the drying floodplains, will guarantee a magical and truly unique experience.
A truly hidden gem of a park, with an abundance of characteristic antilopes, birds and predators. See the elephants gently walking by through the early morning mist, arising from the dambos, and enjoy the lechwe jumping the Busanga streams. Enjoy the amazing Secretary Bird, dancing in front of your tent.
The name Chisa (meaning birds nest in the local language) is derived from the remarkable architecture, as the 4 guest-units have been built as tree-houses, in the shape of birds-nests, to perfectly blend-in with nature. Each , overlooking the plains.
Each tented nest offers complete privacy and a birds-eye view on the plains, both from the inside and from your private deck. All nests have en suite bathrooms with in/outside shower.
Chisa Busanga offers twice a day game-drives and walking safaris. The camp features an electric game-drive vehicle, to enable silent safaris, experience even more game and enjoy the sounds of the bush, without the constant rumble of a diesel-engine. Also on offer are cycling safaris utilizing the camp’s electric bikes.
The Farm
Green Safaris runs a community farming project near the Nalusanga Gate. This project is aimed at benefitting the local communities by providing them with alternative food sources and giving them the opportunity to sell the excess to lodges and at the local market.
Going Green
Chisa Busanga Camp is designed to run 100% off Solar. Rubbish that cannot be composted and used at our Ila Community Farm is separated and recycled where such a service is available in Zambia. We operate an electric game drive vehicle. We also focus on the little things by providing filtered water in re-useable glass bottles plus many other small efforts that all count towards creating a sustainable environment.
Pack for a Purpose
Have a little extra space in your luggage? Chisa Busanga Camp supports the local Chunga Community as much as we can and we are often told by our clients that, had they known in advance, they would have loved to have brought supplies along with them.
If you would like to contribute, then much needed pens, educational books, posters, medicines, medical equipment and sports equipment will make a huge impact on this school. The Chunga school has a boarding facility and provides education to children from far and wide from the ages of 6 to 16. Many prominent businessmen and members of Zambian society schooled here.
Green Safaris Conservation Foundation
With conservation in our hearts, it is one of our key missions and we have set up a dedicated organization which actively supports a variety of conservation organizations active in our areas. We take great pride in educating our guests and wherever possible whilst visiting our lodges, actively involve them in these conservations related activities. 2020 initiatives include Game Rangers International, Panthera, Hack the Poacher, Zambian Carnivore Project and South Luangwa Conservation Society.
