Remote and unknown to all but the most intrepid, Islas Secas is an idyllic base from which to undertake an incredible marine safari. Move seamlessly by foot or boat to access the endless ocean wilderness. There are countless activities and adventures from which to choose. Snorkel or dive amidst the aquatic wonders of the Gulf of Chiriquí; explore the biodiversity of Coiba National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site; swim the fish-storied waters; or witness a migrating Humpback whale. The dedicated Adventure Concierge is an expert on the varied possibilities and will help you select the activities that will best connect you with nature in its purest form.

Whale Watching

Two different populations of humpback whales visit the Gulf of Chiriquí. A small population migrates from feeding areas in the north between December and April. Between July and October, a much larger population of humpback whales migrates from feeding areas off Antarctica and Chile. Visitors will thrill at the experience of getting close to these majestic creatures.

Islas Secas’ true wonders reveal themselves below the water, where the diversity of marine life is astounding. The onsite scuba instructor and dive boat will help certified and novice divers alike on their marine safari quest.

Water Sports

The waters surrounding the archipelago will be your playground in which to indulge your choice of world-class adventurous activities. Dive right in and explore via stand-up paddle board or kayak, take a boat to prime snorkeling sites, or go further afield to surf Morro Negrito.

The privately-funded Islas Secas Foundation supports land, water and wildlife conservation organization in the region, as well as local community programs.

A commitment to sustainability and stewardship is at the core of the facilities, infrastructure and operation of Islas Secas, ensuring one of the most amazing eco escapes on earth

100% of energy consumption on island is powered by our 300-meter long solar array

100% of guest water use is captured and reclaimed through a system that includes constructed wetlands, sand filtration system and infrared light process to provide surface irrigation and reduce any impact on the ground water supply

100% of food scraps are dehydrated and used for composting as fertilizer. There is zero waste here

There are no single-use plastic water bottles and we are striving to eliminate all single-use plastic at Islas Secas

Guest facilities were constructed with certified sustainable wood, while interior woods were pressure-treated with non-toxic boric acid. These high-quality materials and construction methods were used to maximize the life of facilities and to reduce the frequency of future rebuilds

The staff rotation schedule minimizes boat transport between Islas Secas and mainland Panama

We have planted thousands of native trees to help restore the natural infrastructure and integrity of the islands

Every year we bring groups of local children from the mainland for field trips with our visiting scientists to foster environmental education
