Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort

Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort was built on the site of a former coconut plantation. This lush 17-acre property features 25 luxuriously appointed bures set on the shores of beautiful Savusavu Bay with views of the coral reefs and the mountains beyond.

Your stay at Jean Michel will include all meals, non-alcoholic beverages, round-trip ground transportation to/from Savusavu Airport, WiFi, Bula Club for Kids – a complimentary award-winning child care / educational program, and a seemingly never-ending array of exciting activities and excursions.

Dining at Jean-Michel Resort is a delight. Chef Lee sources fresh, seasonal ingredients from the local area and other regions of Fiji. He also grows many herbs, fruits, vegetables, and edible flowers in the Organic Garden on the resort’s grounds.  His creations are principally Fijian but are influenced by his Asian heritage and his international travels that have afforded him a broad repertoire.  The result is a wonderfully eclectic array of dishes that will become one of the many highlights of your stay.

Jean-Michel Cousteau and his team of conservationists believe our modern society can learn a lot about achieving a sustainable environment from the Fijian’s agricultural and fishing practices. The resort is dedicated to the preservation of a pristine environment where physical, mental and spiritual rejuvenation come naturally.

BULA CLUB FOR KIDS
Kids love the Bula Club!  This complimentary award-winning kids club features fun, exploration, educational games, and all kinds of activities that encourage kids to discover the world around them. Each child 5 and under is assigned a dedicated “nanny” for the duration of their stay. Children 6 to 12 are in groups of five led by a “buddy”.
Parents can enjoy a carefree Fiji family holiday and have plenty of time for relaxation and romance.

Resort Philosophy
The goal of the Bula Club is to expand children’s horizons and help them better understand and appreciate the world around them while learning how they can conserve and protect it. They can join in a wide-ranging program of fun and stimulating activities every day and also learn about Fijian culture.

Hours
Open from 8.00am to 9.00pm. Parents can enjoy activities on their own, confident that their children are enjoying everything that Bula Club has to offer and are well taken care of.

Facilities
Just a short walk from the main building and the bures, the Bula Club seems like a world away. The facilities provide a safe environment for children’s games, educational activities, dining, music, child care, short excursions within the resort, and much more. There is a swimming pool with a waterslide, a kiddies’ pool with a waterslide, and a toddlers’ pool. A jungle gym, zip-line, trampoline, sandbox, and arts & crafts centre also make up this place of fun and learning.

Family friendly Fiji holidays
The children will become thoroughly engrossed in the various activities that are programmed throughout each day. Parents are encouraged to participate at any time. There is a program for children up to 5 years old (“Lei Lei” program) and a separate program for those 6 to 12 years old (“Marau” program). These programs are carefully designed to meet the needs of the specific age groups.

Junior chef program
Children, 6 to 12 years old are encouraged to participate in the ‘Junior Chef’s Program’. They will visit the resort’s Organic Garden to harvest produce and assist in the preparation and delivery of either lunch or dinner for the day. This farm-to-plate concept is taught along with other aspects of organic farming such as composting and planting.

Dining
Our youngest guests who take part in the Bula Club have the option to have lunch and/or dinner at the dining area of the Bula Club. Specially prepared dishes are designed with our younger guests in mind with a focus on fresh and wholesome ingredients.
Parents are free to have lunch or dinner in the adult section of the main restaurant if they wish.

Child care
The Bula Club also incorporates childcare. Parents can brief their assigned nanny about their specific needs, if any, and dietary restrictions are easily catered for. Parents are encouraged to include their nanny in family activities outside of the Bula Club. We know that children sometimes need time out from fun. If parents are busy during the day, our nannies will follow the parents’ requested schedule for naps or take kids for quiet time on the beach. In the evening, after parents have put their children to bed, the nanny can take over, so parents can enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner by themselves.

Family friendly resort programs
Our programs are designed to ensure a fun, safe and educational experience for the entire family. Thanks to nannies being dedicated to each child and his or her specific needs, kids enjoy activities and experiences of a lifetime that will become treasured memories. With their children happy and safe, parents enjoy a carefree holiday as a couple and the pleasures of rest, relaxation and romance.  Each day children choose which activities they wish to participate in. If parents prefer their kids not to participate, we have many activities for the whole family to enjoy together.

Yoga
Early risers will love the complimentary restorative yoga sessions.

Spa treatments
In the privacy of one of the beach-side treatment bures, you can immerse yourself in a soothing and restorative spa treatment designed to induce harmony and balance the senses.

Kids of all ages will love JMC! Check out the action for TEENS & Tykes videos.
