Lake Manyara Tree Lodge

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is renowned for its romantic stilted tree house suites that are shaded by a mahogany forest. Cradled in the boughs of an ancient mahogany forest, the lodge blends into the natural beauty of its breathtaking surroundings. After an exhilarating game drive, guests stop for sundowners on the lakeshore below the Great Rift Valley wall.

The lodge has only ten luxurious yet intimate suites located in a remote corner of the reserve. Each suite is a lofty tree house with private veranda and large windows that open up to the lush forest, welcoming in the sights and sounds of the African bush. Woodchip paths and natural branch railings blur the edges between the natural and the manmade, while wooden interiors and thatched roofs invite the surrounding forest indoors. Spacious bedrooms and sitting rooms float in a sea of green, opening up onto a leafy canopy. Even a soak in the large, free-standing tub offers a panoramic view, with an open air shower behind a simple bamboo screen.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only permanent lodge set in the remote southern region of the reserve, far from the park’s entrance gate. This means that game drives explore areas of the park that cannot be reached by day visitors and your game viewing is unlikely to be disturbed by vehicles from other lodges. Each morning and afternoon you will set off in the company of your guide and tracker team in an open 4x4 safari vehicle with a canvas canopy as protection from the sun. Your guide will help you explore the many diverse habitats of the park, stopping on the lake shore to admire the different bird species and look for pink flamingo. You will traverse a mosaic of acacia woodlands, grassy floodplains and tall forest in search of wildlife, including Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions and family herds of elephant.

Treehouse Suite(s)

Cradled in the boughs of ancient mahogany trees, ten stilted treehouse suites, crafted from local timber and makuti palm fronds, boast a sophisticated blend of intimacy and romance, offering privacy and exclusivity in cool, leafy surroundings. Each treehouse suite features generous decks suspended above the forest floor and large windows invite the lush forest inside.

The classically elegant bedrooms are fitted with contemporary furnishing in neutral colours and textures, overhead fans and billowing mosquito nets. The bathrooms have freestanding baths with a forest view and an outdoor shower.

Family Suite

Crafted from local timber and makuti palm fronds, the Family Suite is cradled in the boughs of ancient trees. It boasts two classically elegant ensuite rooms, connected by an entrance hall. A generous deck suspends above the forest floor and large windows invite the lush forest inside. The main bathroom boasts a freestanding bath and an outdoor shower, whilst the second bathroom features a shower. The Family Suite can accommodate two adults and two children (three children can be accommodated on special request).
