Humpback whales in Rurutu

The island of Rurutu, a small island paradise, is particularly renowned for whales in French Polynesia and even on a world scale. It is one of the best places in French Polynesia (without a crowd of tourists) to observe whales. Today, many local tourists come to observe these cetaceans between July and October, during the southern winter. Whales arrive on the island of Rurutu escaping the cold of Antarctica to give birth in the warmer waters of the Australes Archipelago.
