Abel Tasman National Park

15 minutes away is one of New Zealand's favorite playgrounds - stunning golden beaches and azure water in a protected bay. A walking trail follows the coast and is accessible by boat for hikes from an hour to 5 days. Kayaking, hiking, boat trips, canyoning and eco tours are recommended.




Kahurangi National Park

New Zealand's second largest national park, a true wilderness and excellent day walks to the summit of Mt Arthur or a private guided tour for birdwatchers and botanists.


Cycling

Tasman Taste Trail is a gentle off-road trail winding along the coast and past vineyards. Bike rentals, pick-ups and one-way rides all available. Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park and many trails around Nelson area for off-roaders. Heli-biking options.


Art & Wine Artisan Trails

Nelson Tasman region is famous for its many artist and artisan craftsmen. From potters to painters, craft beer to gourmet produce, start with Saturday's Market in Nelson and visit artists in their studios and producers by the roadside or at great vineyard cafes

Golden Bay

One hour scenic drive brings you to Takaka and Golden Bay. Spend a day exploring short walks such as the amazing Pupu Springs or Wharariki Beach. Take a tour with Farewell Spit Eco Tours, especially one of their birding tours.
