Established to protect the previously endangered white rhino, Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve is a triumph of conservation efforts. The lodge, built in 2015,  is designed in a contemporary style with overtones of organic forms utilizing natural finishes and materials.

Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge offers exceptional safari experiences in the heart of Big 5 territory, with both morning and afternoon games drives in the Hluhluwe Imfolosi Game Reserve.  Game walks are also offered.

Safari / Family Rooms (2 en-suite rooms with common lobby) twin/dbl. These rooms can double as Family Rooms given that they share a common lobby. Twin Vanity and luxurious shower. Separate toilet.

Luxury Bush Villa

(8 ROOMS)

King size bed or twin beds, en-suite bathroom, separate toilet, deep soaking bath, luxurious shower and private wooden deck, mini-bar, fireplace. Overhead fan and air conditioner. Safe, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities.

Honeymoon Villa

(2 ROOMS)

King size bed or twin beds, en-suite bathroom, separate toilet, deep soaking bath, luxurious shower and private wooden deck, mini-bar, fireplace, private plunge pool. Overhead fan and air conditioner. Bathrobes, safe, hairdryer as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Beautiful views over the park.

Game Drives

Twice daily game drives are conducted to explore the magnificent hills and valleys of the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park. Nothing is predictable in the bush; therefore each safari offers a potentially new and unique experience. Our guides will share their wealth of bush experience which involves the identifications of animals, trees, grasses, insects and birds. The medicinal uses of plants and local folk lore is also discussed as well as looking for the ever fascinating Big 5!

Game Walks

Guests can enjoy guided walks lasting 3-4 hours inside the park in Big 5 territory. No children under 14 years. Additional cost.

Zulu Cultural Visits

Visits into the local Mpembeni Community can be arranged at nominal cost. "Sangoma" visits can be arranged.

Home Stay

Book a night in an authentic working Zulu homestead. Guests wanting to do this activity need to book it ahead through our reservations department. Maximum 4 people and no children under 4 years. Guests are driven up to the park gate and then walk accompanied by a guide to the homestead where they are introduced to the Zulu family and spend an afternoon doing family activities. After assisting with the herding of the cattle into their night pen guests gather around the fire to converse with the family and learn about Zulu culture. Dinner is served in the traditional style in the dining hut. After dinner guests retire to their bedrooms which have mattresses on the floor with sheets and a duvet. A chemical toilet and bucket shower are available for exclusive guest use. Breakfast usually consists of fruit and porridge. After breakfast the guide will walk the guests back to the vehicle and will then return to Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge where they can continue with their onward journey.
