Thatch Caye

Thatch Caye Resort introduces a whole new level of all-inclusive eco-adventure and comfort for marine activities. The resort caters to travelers who are looking for an off the beaten path paradise with a fun, community vibe. Just minutes from the Belize Barrier Reef, the snorkeling and diving is amazing. If underwater isn't your thing, Thatch Caye is minutes from the best fishing in the world. This is a friendly island which welcomes boaters and yacht moorings from all over the world. From the Coco Lounge to the Starfish Bar, you'll see that this island is a true destination.

Thatch Central is the gathering place to eat, drink, play, relax, meet, and mix in the warm glow of a handcrafted jungle hardwood palapa. Your adventures are planned at Thatch Central. Divers will visit the wonders of Tobacco Caye and South Water Caye. You may even plan all day excursions to Glovers, Turneffe and even the Blue Hole. There are three gorgeous beaches to play or relax on. The island is located a short kayak ride to one of only 12 world renowned bird sanctuaries in the Caribbean where hundreds of frigates, boobies and pelicans make their home. Sea kayakers, saltwater fly-fishermen, snorkelers, scuba divers, and marine enthusiasts will love this Resort.

The resort is located on a private island 9 miles off the coastline from Dangriga and two miles inside the barrier reef. Stay in one of the 11 accommodations – four spacious casitas, five overwater cabanas or the family villa. Casitas (little homes) are elevated single story units with rooftop decks, complete with hammocks, so that you can catch the island breezes and savor the spectacular views. Casitas feature 1 king size bed (or 2 twin size beds), full bath, window seat day bed, mini-fridge and ventilation fans. Cabanas are perched over the sea with 180 degree water views, spacious full baths and private verandas with hammocks. Handcrafted bamboo or wild cane ceilings with fans and tile floors provide cooling comfort year round. The Family Villa accommodates groups of four to six guests perched high above the sea in three separate dwellings. Two spacious Cabanas with king or twin beds and a central living room with a full-sized futon provide sleeping quarters for a full house. All three units have full baths; the center building has ample seating and a small kitchenette.

Each accommodation is a true oasis with private outdoor space and more importantly, no “real world” distractions. Rooms at Thatch Caye have all of the necessities, but not much else. You won’t find a phone, TV, or WiFi in your room, but all are available at the Coco Lounge, if you happen to need them.
