Pacuare Lodge & Lapa Rios - 8 days / 7 nights

Capture the true essence of Costa Rica this season. Sister properties, the Pacuare Lodge in the verdant Talamanca mountains, and Lapa Rios on the southernmost coast of the Osa Peninsula, offer unparalleled access to the country’s most coveted natural treasures. Both acclaimed luxury lodges are members of National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World for their unfaltering dedication to sustainability and ecological conservation in tandem with the local communities. By joining forces, the two projects effectively protect 740 hectares (1,924 acres) of pristine tropical rainforest and an astounding number of bird and animal habitats. Despite occupying uniquely different regions of Costa Rica, they share common values and attributes. Both are nestled amongst sprawling nature reserves teeming with monkeys, exotic birds, sloths, wildcats, and colorful reptiles; and both have the same vision: to provide an authentic, unrivaled, five-star vacation experience in harmony with the environment and the local community.

Days 1-4: Pacuare Lodge

Most guests arrive at Pacuare Lodge by rafting the breathtaking Pacuare, one of the world’s most scenic rivers. Other’s arrive after an awe-inspiring 4x4 drive through the Caribbean foothills and virgin rainforests. Upon arrival, however, is when the journey into discovery, serenity, and relaxation really begins. Your stay at the Pacuare Lodge includes eight unforgettable tour activities that can be enjoyed as many times as you like. Hike through the surrounding rainforest steeped in local indigenous tradition and wisdom; get a bird’s-eye view on a treetop canopy tour; rock climb up a jungle canyon and rappel through sparkling waterfalls; and five more unforgettable adventures. When the day’s excitement ends, it’s time to nurture your body and soul under the healing hands of Jawa Jüu Spa’s capable therapists. And to top it off, treat your taste buds to gourmet, organic fusion-traditional cuisine, tropically inspired desserts, and fine wine or a hand-crafted brew.

Days 5-8: Lapa Rios
At Lapa Rios, you’ll experience what tropical paradise is all about. Play in the warm sands and crystalline waters of Golfo Dulce, literally brimming with dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and other exotic marine life. Hike among the world’s last remaining tropical lowland rainforests in the internationally heralded Corcovado National Park. Snorkel or scuba dive through schools of brilliant tropical fish over living coral reefs. And swim under the spray of magnificent waterfalls. At Lapa Rios, we are proud to staff a team of experienced Naturalist Guides who will open your eyes, ears, and hearts to the magic of the natural world within the reserve.
