Bullo River Station

Set on 400,000 acres of privately owned countryside at the convergence of the Bullo and Victoria rivers, Bullo River Station is a working cattle station in the East Kimberley region, in the Northern Territory near the Western Australian border.

Bullo strives to balance best practice pastoral work with a commitment to environmental conservation. The prime pastoral land is managed with equal care and respect for the pristine and extraordinary beauty of the outback bush. Conservation projects are managed by Australian Wildlife Conservancy in an Australian-first conservation and pastoral partnership.

The vision for Bullo River Station is to demonstrate that thriving cattle operations and vibrant ecosystems can coexist," said Julian Burt, Co-owner of Bullo River Station.

The Station’s pristine landscape is carved with gorges and waterfalls, making it one of Australia’s most breathtakingly beautiful stations. Encircled by the coffee-coloured waters of the Victoria River and rugged hills inscribed with Aboriginal rock art, this vast property is not only home to around 2,000 Brahman-cross cattle, but also a stunning variety of local fauna species including wallabies, dingoes, myriad native and migratory birds, fish and the omnipresent crocodiles. Best time to go is May-Oct.

Twelve generous and comfortable rooms, designed by Sibella Court, along with delicious, wholesome meals and cooling beverages, reinvigorate guests after a day exploring the outback and enjoying Bullo’s many activities.

Guests explore Bullo with their own guide: visiting secret waterfalls, natural swimming pools and historic boabs, spending the day cruising the Bullo River and dropping a line in for barramundi fishing, bird and wildlife watching, and exploring the Aboriginal rock art on the vast property. And then there is the station life which has its own rhythms, full of dust and excitement. It all makes for an exhilarating stay. Visit Bullo River Station between May and Sep for the added opportunity to witness outback cattle mustering in action. At Bullo River homestead, enjoy lazy afternoons by the pool, in a hammock between the palms or sharing a sundowner with your fellow guests looking out over the outback plains.
