Lady Elliott Island Resort

Lady Elliot Island is a coral cay located at the southern tip of the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef. Situated within a highly protected ‘Green Zone’ the coral cay is a sanctuary for over 1,200 species of marine life and is known for its abundance of manta rays, turtles, amazing array of spectacular marine life and unspoiled coral reef.

There is only one Restaurant on Lady Elliot Island, the Beachfront Dining Room offers full buffet dining including a variety of tasty and wholesome dishes. Breakfast and Dinner are included in the overnight tariff.  Enjoy the magical views from the Lagoon deck or some quiet dining time on the western deck. Buffet lunch is also available. There’s also a beach cafe & bar.

The Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort is a family run and operated eco-tourism business. Peter Gash, family and several partners have held the lease from the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority to operate the resort since 2005. Since this time, enormous strides have been made to introduce sustainable initiatives to convert the resort to renewable energy with the goal to be 100% renewable by 2020. As guests to our Island we ask that you read and commit to their Sustainability Pledge so together we can make a difference and protect this beautiful Island.

Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort offers a range of comfortable accommodation options, with each Unit, Tent and Cabin designed to minimize impact on the Island while enriching the overall guest experience of the environment and seasonal wildlife. In keeping with the natural, eco-friendly practices there are no telephones, television, radios or Wi-Fi available in the rooms. Limited Wi-fi available in the restaurant.

Two Bedroom Beachfront Units

Sleeps four (5 Units)

Offering absolute beach frontage, the spacious two-bedroom Beachfront Units accommodate up to four people and feature a separate air-conditioned lounge room and private bathroom. The two-bedroom Beachfront Units have a private balcony surrounded by the island’s native flora. Each unit has a mini-fridge and tea and coffee facilities. In season, Red-tailed Tropicbirds and Green and Loggerhead turtles nest (at your doorstep) providing an immersive nature-based experience.


Glamping Tents

Sleeps two adults (2 tents)

Only meters from the Lagoon, immerse yourself in our exclusive and spacious Glamping Tents set amongst our native coral cay vegetation. Glass sliding doors open up to a large deck where you can enjoy the surrounding environment including nesting seabirds (in season) and nesting turtles (in season). The Glamping Tents accommodate up to two adults (queen bed) and are ideal for couples with an ensuite and private balcony. Each tent is fan cooled with a mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.


Reef Units

Sleeps two or four (15 Units)

Located approximately 10 meters from the beautiful coral cay Lagoon, the Reef Units are the closest resort rooms to the Beachfront Dining Room. Arranged in blocks of three, they are ideal for couples or families, offering either a queen bed or a combination of a queen and bunk-style beds. Each unit features polished timber floors, ensuite bathrooms and a balcony to make the most of the island surrounds. The units are fan cooled and have a mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

Garden Units & Accessibility Rooms 

Sleeps two or four (9 Units)

Situated within 20 to 30 meters walk from the Lagoon, the Garden Units are arranged in blocks of three and are ideal for couples or families, offering either a queen bed or a combination of a queen and bunk-style beds. Each unit features polished timber floors, ensuite bathrooms and a balcony set amongst the resort gardens to make the most of the resort views. The units are fan cooled and have a mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

Three (3) of the nine (9) Garden Units have been designed as accessibility rooms to cater to the specialized needs of wheelchair users or guests with mobility issues. With an access ramp and larger bathrooms featuring wheel-in showers and handrails. 

Eco Cabins

Sleeps four (13 Cabins)

Situated within 20 to 30 meters walk from the Lagoon, our newly upgraded Eco Cabins have solid walls, louvres for maximum air flow, a large front glass sliding door and shared bathroom facilities. The Eco Cabins sleep up to 4 adults and the Eco Family Cabin (1 only) sleeps up to 5 adults. Lighting and power points are available in every cabin as well as a ceiling fan. The deck is furnished with two chairs for added relaxation.

Snorkeling & Diving

Snorkeling and Diving is a great way to get up close and personal with the amazing marine life and explore the wonders of the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

Snorkeling on the reef surrounding Lady Elliot island is easily accessible straight off the beaches or book on to one of our daily glass bottom boat/guided snorkel tours or snorkel safaris. Self-guided beach snorkeling is an activity that you can participate in throughout the day (subject to conditions).

Depending on your level of experience, you can choose from the Beginner, Intermediate or advance snorkel trails.

Diving

Lady Elliot Island offers a diverse diving experience with 20 incredible dive sites around the island which are easily accessible by boat dives, please see Dive . At Lady Elliot Island, our experienced Dive staff personally escort all dives, we schedule a minimum of two dives per day and optional night dives available subject to numbers and weather conditions. The PADI Dive Shop offers courses to cater for all levels of experience.

Other experiences include: Nature walks, beach volleyball, tide pooling, table tennis, children's playground and board games.
