Lizard Island

Lizard Island presents a variety of elegant, yet understated rooms and suites.  Located in tropical gardens, the beachfront rooms and suites at Anchor Bay offer private balconies and all the comforts of home. Overlooking Anchor Bay from sunset point are the villas, some with private plunge pools, with more privacy and easy access to the beaches below. For larger parties needing more spacious digs and seclusion, you may choose from the Pavilion or new Villas which are simply exquisite. All 40 rooms feature thoughtful touches like free minibar items and bathrobes, along with iPod docks and LCD TVs. Premium bedding, coffee makers and free bottled water are among the many amenities available to guests.

Gardenview Rooms

The Gardenview Rooms are perfectly located for ease of access to the natural beauty of Anchor Bay. These rooms are designed to ensure a relaxing stay and feature the understated interior design elegance that Lizard Island is renowned for. Smaller than our suites, these rooms also feature a premium in-room sound system, LCD Smart Televisions and Apple docking stations. Bedding includes a king-size bed or 2 king single beds (max 2 people)

Gardenview Suite

With a separate bedroom and living room, this suite is spacious and conveniently close to the Lodge where Saltwater Restaurant and Driftwood bar are located; a short distance further is the pool and spa. Sitting on your private deck surrounded by the naturally wild landscape of the tropics, background sounds from the resident birds mix with the lapping of the ocean to create a natural serenity and ambiance. Gardenview Suites are intimate, warm and welcoming.

Oceanview Villas

Oceanview Villas are nestled high along a ridge overlooking the Coral Sea with natural, meandering pathways leading down to some of the Island’s renowned private beaches. Step inside from your private deck and the serenity of linen and blue hues create a peaceful oasis that can be closed off from the outside world, or keep the doors wide open to be integrated as one with the outside landscape. A padded box seat sits in a bay alcove with light streaming in and offering breathtaking views over the sea. Oceanview Villas are a small, private oasis.

Beachfront Suites

The Beachfront Suites take pride of place in the natural arc of the tropical landscaping and Anchor Bay beach frontage which affords you direct and easy access to the beach. A large day bed holds court on the expansive outside deck with full, uninterrupted views to the beach and the many yachts and boats anchored in the Bay. It is here, on the deck, that you can leave your snorkel and fins for the duration of your stay – allowing you to swim and snorkel on a whim at anytime of the day or night.

Natural interior tones and fabrics provide a soft backdrop to the richness of the blues and greens of the landscape, sky and sea framed through the soaring double glass doors and day bed. The luxury bathroom is drenched in natural light and overall ambiance is one of tranquility. Beachfront Suites are loved by those wanting close proximity and access to the beach and wonders of the Anchor Bay waters.

The Pavilion

The separate bedroom is spacious and airy with its interior of neutral tones and natural fabrics and doors that open onto the deck. An adjacent bathroom is luxurious with a deep, standalone bath and separate shower. The lounge is fully integrated into the outdoor deck through sliding doors. A small kitchenette and bay window with bench and high stools is the perfect location for enjoying a morning cup of tea and the ocean views. Stepping down from the deck and taking a private pathway, you arrive at the Pavilion’s gazebo and private plunge pool. If the Villa is the perfect family accommodation, the Pavilion has been designed as the ultimate in privacy for just two people, who will quickly come to feel that they are the only two people in the world.

There’s loads to do at Lizard Island like yoga, plus unlimited use of motorized dinghies, paddle boards, catamarans and snorkeling equipment.

Diving

Today you travel to the Great Barrier Reef for a full day of snorkeling or diving. (Please note this tour is on a shared basis.) You make your way to the Beach Club by 8:30 am for a 9:00 am departure. The MV Serranidae is a 16 metre purpose built dive vessel which operates day trips to the outer reef. There are some wonderful locations within easy reach of the island and you will enjoy spectacular snorkelling opportunities around the Marine National Park.

The Great Barrier Reef is a world “icon” and is home to an amazing variety of fascinating animals. While most people are familiar with the colorful corals and the beautifully bright fish, other creatures on the reef are just as intriguing.

Snorkeling

Lizard Island provides amazing Great Barrier Reef snorkeling conditions, right off the beach. The “Clam Garden” is only a short swim from the beach at Watson’s Bay and excellent sites are also found at Anchor Bay, and Sunset Beach - all within short walking distance of your accommodation.

A challenging walk to the island’s highest point rewards you with a stunning view over the Coral Sea.

Dinghy Adventure

Take the helm of your motorized dinghy and discover the 24 pristine and secluded beaches that fringe Lizard Island. Beach comb or snorkel over the fringing reef and enjoy a chef-prepared gourmet picnic hamper in complete privacy.

Glass Bottom Boat

If you wish to experience the fringing reef, but stay comfortably dry, jump on board one of our interpretive glass bottom boat tours. As we glide over the coral gardens, you will learn about the history and diversity of the fringing reef and the wonderful array of world-class marine life that call the waters surrounding Lizard home.

Private Charter

Today you venture to the Outer Barrier Reef aboard the MV Fascination for a full day private charter. Fascination is a 51 foot Flybridge Cruiser that provides the perfect platform for snorkeling, diving and fishing. Your captain will show you some wonderful locations that are within easy reach of the island. You snorkel the spectacular drop offs on the edge of the outer barrier reef and the sensational coral bommie gardens which abound on the leeward side of the Ribbon Reefs. The Cod Hole, famed for its family of potato grouper and maori wrasse is sure to provide the highlight of your dive experience.
