There are 22 standard and superior cabins featuring private bathrooms with shower, louvered and screened windows, two ceiling fans, plus a private veranda with hammock. The cabins also come with a CD player, alarm clock with radio, safe, iPod dock, free Wi-Fi and coffee maker with Honduran organic coffee.

Whether you are trekking through the rainforest, white-water rafting, bird-watching or visiting Mayan ruins, the experiences you will encounter are totally connected to the local life around you. Set against a mountain backdrop, the lodge is surrounded by the most extraordinary wildlife that includes over 400 bird species, exotic animals such as kinkajous, peccaries, coatis, tyras as well as monkeys and jaguars.

You may visit the resident butterfly farm that breeds over 40 species of tropical butterflies. Follow one of the many trails through the jungle and view the canopy from a four-story observation deck. Hiking trails lead to the waterfalls at the bottom of sheer canyons.  Enjoy the thrills and spills on the Rio Cangrejal, a world class whitewater destination. There’s also fantastic snorkeling expeditions out to the remote islands of Cayos Cochinos. Join a trip to Cuero y Salado, a coastal manatee and wildlife refuge where the Cuero and Salado Rivers meet the ocean. There’s also tours to the local village and botanical gardens. You certainly won’t be bored at Pico Bonito!

Itzama is the lodge’s full service, newly renovated restaurant and bar where guests dine on Mesoamerican cuisine. Using fresh seafood and locally grown herbs and vegetables, the chef recreates local Honduran specialties. The screened dining room overlooks tropical gardens allowing guests to enjoy the wonderful flavors of Central American cooking surrounded by the exotic sounds of the jungle. Private candlelight dining can be arranged on the open-air deck above the Corinto River.

After a day of adventure, check out the spa. In keeping with the pre-Hispanic Honduran healing culture and traditions, we use essential oils with aromas and specialized massage techniques. The combination of the sense of smell and touch melts away tension, relaxes you mentally and physically, reduces stress, and enhances the immune system benefiting vascular and lymphatic circulation.

From San Pedro Sula, guests take either a private van for the 2.5 hour drive to The Lodge or a 30-minute commuter flight to La Ceiba where free transfer is provided. There is also a ferry service from the Bay Islands to La Ceiba. The lodge is happy to help make in-country travel arrangements for its guests.
