Honduras

Honduras

Honduras is one of the largest Central American countries and shares many of the characteristics of the region including abundant tropical forests, population with mixed cultural heritage, Mayan ruins, lovely coastline, fun tropical islands and great diving. The island of Utila is famous for its whale sharks and you might see one at any time of the year although they are most frequent March-April and August-September.

The Bay Islands – Roatán, Utila and Guanaja – are located in the southern end of the second largest barrier reef in the world and popular with divers and snorkelers. Vibrant corals, huge schools of technicolor fish, manta rays, turtles and much more awaits here for both the beginner and seasoned diver. Roatán is the largest of the islands and gets the most visitors. Here you will find the best selection of accommodations, restaurants and things to do. Utila is quieter with a few excellent dive resorts but without great beaches. Guanaja is off the beaten track with few choices for accommodation or restaurants. An excellent way to take in all the best dive sites of the country is to board the Caribbean Pearl.
