The Manor at Ngorongoro

Step Back in Time To an Age of Grandeur

Crossing the Rift Valley and climbing the steppe onto the green and rolling hills south of the Ngorongoro Crater, there lies a truly undeniable surprise and one that will be a home-away-from-home.

The Manor at Ngorongoro, located in the north west Tanzania and with its 10 luxurious cottages (20 Suites) and magnificent main Manor House, is one of the first safari lodges of its kind to blend East African hospitality with old-world Afro-European architecture and decor. Located adjacent to the famous Ngorongoro conservation area and within a 1500-acre Arabica coffee estate, The Manor is reminiscent of an elegant up-country farm home in the Cape Dutch-style of architecture.

Every detail of The Manor has been designed with its guests’ comfort in mind. Each of the cottages has been carefully positioned to maximise the views of the adjacent verdant hills but at the same time to maintain the intimacy and privacy of this old-world Manor home.

Ngorongoro Crater is famed as being the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’, and is a ‘must see’ on anyone’s itinerary. This extinct volcano - with its 18-kilometre wide crater floor - is home to an abundant and unique ecosystem that encompasses almost all of the wildlife that you would wish to see in Africa. This spectacular setting is a ‘once-in-a- lifetime’ opportunity to experience the rawness and beauty of Africa’s natural flora and fauna.

Manor Cottage Suite Rooms
Each Manor Cottage Suite has its own private entrance and adjoining private sun terrace. A double open-fronted log-burning fireplace divides a room interior that mirrors the traditional Cape Dutch architecture. The ensuite bath and shower room possesses a Victorian-style claw-footed bath, as well as twin vanity basins and large ‘rainfall’ shower.

The Stable Cottage
An exclusive family accommodation, The Stable Cottage has 3 guest bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. An expansive living area incorporates a lounge area, TV room and dining room. Guests can dine privately in the accommodation and be thoroughly immersed in the enjoyment of those all too rare family holidays.

Game Drives in Ngorongoro Crater and Conservation Area
Ngorongoro Crater is unofficially the "Eight Wonder of the World". Visitors will understand instantly when they reach the first viewing point on the lip of the crater and take in the majesty of the ecological wonder.

Descending to the floor of the crater, guests are treated a magnificent wildlife spectacle as they traverse a variety of landscapes, from open grasslands dotted with game, soda lakes coloured pink with flamingo and dense riverine woodland, with the rising walls of the crater framing every view.

A half-day or full-day game drive into the Ngorongoro Crater is included in a Game Package

Horse Riding
Take a canter or a leisurely walk on a horse through the fertile grounds of the surrounding gardens and coffee plantation. The Manor has a stable of horses and ponies suitable for most ages.

Horse riding is at an additional cost.

Day Excursions Lake Manyara National Park or Olduvai Gorge
Lake Manyara National Park is known for its astounding variety of landscapes for its relatively smaller size compared to other well-known parks on the Northern Tanzanian circuit. From dense forest, to soda lake wetland, open grasslands and acacia thickets, the variety is superseded only by the variety of wildlife found throughout.

Olduvai Gorge is one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in East Africa, and is famed as the place where Louis and Mary Leakey made some of the most important discoveries of early hominids. A still active excavation site, visit the place where some of the earliest hominids lived and breathed.

A full-day excursion is included in a Game Package
